What Are We Learning?

In English we are using the text ‘A Kind of Spark’ by Elle McNicoll to explore narrative writing. A Kind of Spark is about a girl named Addie who is autistic. She fights for the rights of others and discovers she is also standing up for herself. We have focussed on using different perspectives for example switching between third person and then to an internal monologue in the first person. We have explored using speech to advance the action and developed writing of different tenses. Another area of writing we are looking at is building atmosphere within a narrative.

In Maths, we will are looking at ratio, shape, algebra, geometry and graphs and averages.  We will also be looking at strategies to solve word problems.
