At Caldmore, our children will have a good grasp of global location and will understand and identify different continents, countries and oceans. They will have a strong understanding of human and physical geography, know the differences between them and recognise the features of each.

Our children will leave Caldmore Primary Academy being active, conscientious geographers. They will take part in global issues and learn about the importance of making a positive impact in our world.

In Early Years;

Our youngest learners are introduced to geography through a variety of topics where they are encouraged to explore the natural world. They learn all about their local community and begin to understand begin to understand the need to respect and care for their environment.

In key stage 1;

In Key Stage One, our children start to understand maps and will learn how to identify the four countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom. They will also study the continents and oceans of the world and recognise that some environments are different to the ones in which they live. They learn that

In key stage 2;

Pupils in Key Stage 2 begin to learn about places further afield including  Europe, North and South America. They study the location and characteristics of a range of the world’s most significant human and physical features such as mountains and rivers as well as climate zones and farming worldwide. They will develop their use of geographical knowledge, understanding and skills to enhance their locational and place knowledge.
