In our school we support the view that learning a modern foreign language is an entitlement for all pupils during their time in Key Stage 2.

At Caldmore we teach French to children from year 3 to year 6.

We aim to make the lessons as interesting and enjoyable as possible, as this approach serves to develop a positive attitude in the children to the learning of a modern foreign language.

We use a variety of techniques to encourage the children to engage actively in French. These include: games, role play, action songs, listening to recordings of native language speakers and mime.

The children also learn about the country and its culture.
